Strength and continuance of usage of the film

All plastic products start degradating when they are exposed to sunlight, heat and oxygen. • To prolong the lifetime of greenhouse films, it is necessary to add special chemical compounds, known as UV stabilizers, that protect the films from sun radiation and antioxidants. Unlike the mono-layer films, the 3-layer ones contain UV stabilizers that are resistant to the use of pesticides inside of the greenhouse. The 3-layer polyethylene films provide better strength and wind resistance, compared to the common films.

Light transmittance

The 3-layer films provide high light transmittance, which is essential for the growth of the plants. The more light a plant receives, the higher its photosynthetic activity will be.

Thermal properties

The sunlight enters the greenhouse during the day and heats the soil and the air. During the night, that heat “escapes”. Special “thermic” films have been developed, which contain materials (such as EVA ) which absorb the IR radiation and reduce heat losses during the night. As a result, the temperature remains 4-5 C above the outside temperature.

Anti-fog (anti-drip) effect

When the relative humidity in the greenhouse is high, it causes a drop formation on the surface of the film and on the plantations, which might lead to some negative consequences. In order to avoid this process, it is recommended to add anti-fog supplement to the film. The absence of drops on the film surface will increase light transmittance and decrease the development of viruses on the crops.

5.Anti-mist effect

The formation of fog might be observed in the greenhouse which happens due to the evaporation of the water. In order to avoid this, it is recommended to use films which contain the additive anti-mist.

Restraining the development of diseases and insects

Due to the blocking of the UV light, the 3-layer polyethylene film protects the plantations from some insects (such as the white fly and the two spotted spider) through making them blind. Moreover, the 3-layer film detains the reproduction of Botrytis and decreases the population of the insects.
